NTAG213 NFC Chip Features and Specifications

The NTAG213 chip was launched in 2013 as a replacement for the first of the NTAG series chips, the NTAG203. I added a number of additional features including a 32-bit password and ASCII UID mirror. There were also a number of technical changes including a thinner 75µm chip format and an increase in expected data retention to 10 years. Importantly, NXP also added an originality signature feature which helped detect counterfeit NTAG series chips.

The NTAG213 can be used as a direct replacement for the previous NTAG203 and in the majority of cases it can also be used instead of the MIFARE Ultralight. The NTAG213 is part of the NTAG series of chips which also includes the NTAG210, NTAG210µ, NTAG212, NTAG215 and NTAG216.

It's a very popular NFC Forum Type 2 chip and certainly the most common to find in NFC tags and products. It has enough memory to store long tracking web links/URLs and enough features for everyday use cases. Reliability and scan distances are superb.
